The interdisciplinary character of the IG&G AMU is also clearly reflected in its didactic work. While the Institute's bonds with the traditional Geography subjects are the strongest, its staff conduct lectures and classes for students of Archeology, Biology, Geology, Environmental Planning, Environmental Protection, Physical Planning and Spatial Management, and Tourism and Recreation. For many years the Institute has offered Evolution of the Environment in the Quaternary as a speciality within Geography. It makes students well-prepared for master's seminars conducted by IG&G professors. Emphasis is put on the training of specialists in the reconstruction of the natural environment in the Quaternary and in the forecasting of its future changes.

At present, to meet the demand of the labour market, Geoinformation has been offered for four years as an IG&G-conducted speciality. Its students, apart from being given a solid grounding in general geographical knowledge, have to master the use of instruments designed for collecting, processing and analysing spatial data in a digital form. Geoinformation enjoys great popularity among candidates striving to become Faculty students, and each student's book is hotly contested. There are also more candidates for doctoral studies conducted by IG&G professors than places for them. Currently there are fifteen doctoral students in the Institute.
