expeditions & cruises

Over the course of the past thirteen years I took part in more than two dozens scientific expeditions to different parts of the world. 

11 expeditions and cruises to Svalbard (mainly fjords of western Spitsbergen: Billefjorden, Adventfjorden, Hornsund, Kongsfjorden and Greenland Sea), including research cruises with R/V Oceania (4 times) and R/V Jan Mayen. Duration of all the expeditions to Svalbard was over 15 months (in years 1998-2010).

5 research cruises on South China Sea (mainly continental shelf of Vietnam and Mekong River Delta) on R/V Sonne (1999, 2006) and R/V Nghien Cuu Bien (2004, 2005), as well as on smaller boats in coastal waters  (2005 and 2007). Time spent on the cruises in this region was about 5.5 months.

• 6 expeditions and research cruises to Thailand and on Andaman Sea (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009), in regions hit by 2004 tsunami. All together the field work time is more than 4 months.

Research survey in Japan to document impacts of 11th March tsunami and earthquake in Japan (2011) in the frame of the International Tsunami Survey Team UNESCO.

Studies on North Sea and Baltic Sea (1999-2000 and 2008, 2009-2011).
