Sediment accumulation rates and techniques of its measuring (radioisotopes: 210Pb, 137Cs, sediment traps)It
is very
interesting to learn what happened in the past, but it is even more
interesting
when we know when and how fast
did it
happen (e.g.
sediment accumulation). To be able to date the past events we use
various
radioisotopes, for instance 14C, 210Pb
and 137Cs
and to measure the modern processes we use also experiments – for
instance with
sediment traps.
