Trawler wakes, Northwest Africa

S17-33-109
Flight 41G; 25.4N, 1 4.2W, 14: 12: 14 GMT, 8 Oct 1984

Not all stern wakes are as long or as easily observed as those from the large tanker and container ships. Slowly moving trawlers, for example, with nets set in a windblown sea off the northwest coast of Africa, produce wakes that are hardly visible. Yet, their crisscrossing patterns are always the clue to the type of fishing activity involved, in this case, purse seining.
